"The sea beckons with stunning surf
that appears to be inviting us
to get into the water and have fun.
Togged-out with wetsuits and board
it's time to brave the ocean's call"
Just up the road (1 mile) from the comfortable accommodation of The Windward is Watergate Bay, a now familiar beach just outside Newquay, with an international reputation for amazing surf and some of the most stunning views in the county.
With 2 miles of golden sand, some of the most stunning seascapes in the Duchy, and all the facilities right on or next to the beach, it is easy to see why so many people return year after year.
"The Extreme Academy" www.extremeacademy.co.uk at Watergate Bay not only provides expert surf instruction, but also a wide range of other beach-based sports such as Kite-surfing, Mountain Boarding and Wave Skiing. All the equipment can be hired, including wetsuits to fit all shapes and sizes and lessons can be booked either on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
Other surf schools are available, including "The Lusty Glaze Adventure Centre" www.lustyglaze.co.uk 1/2 mile across Porth Beach, which also offers a full range of beach-based activities.
Both Watergate Bay and Lusty Glaze have stunning Bistro/Restaurants right on the beach with plenty of ample secure parking.
